To put it simply, this film was ravishing. An outstanding and unique omnibus perspective on the disparate and peculiar lives of those compressed in close quarters of overpopulated city, Tokyo. Similar to the critically acclaimed ensemble directed Paris, je t'aime, this film was conceived through a manage a trois of visually stunning and imaginative story tellers/directors, Michel Gondry, Leos Carax, and Bong Joon-Ho; each projecting a plethora of memorable moments accompanied by stylized yet intriguing and creative cinematography, dare I say original.
Each film had its own opening and closing credit sequence (shorter than usual) which I assumed was used to announce the lack of a linear plot or any sort of coherency. I am not sure there was any relevance between the three films despite there being a few similar themes, they stood self-composed and strayed from contradiction; in other words, they all worked very well as separate films, as well as side by side. I strongly advise you movie goers to see this inspirational film as I am positive you'll leave in desperate attempts to analyze what shapes you.
